Henry Ford Macomb Hospitals is looking for special volunteers
Henry Ford Macomb Hospitals is committed to extending loving, embracing care to its most vulnerable patients, especially those who are approaching the end of life in one of our hospitals. The Compassionate Care initiative being introduced at both Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township and Henry Ford Macomb Hospital - Warren Campus helps ensure that no patient dies alone.
Although there is a similar program in already in place, this new program is designed to strengthen our care to families who may need time away from a loved one who is dying, or to dying patients who may not have family or friends available nearby.
Program volunteers receive training on such issues as signs of dying, techniques to calm a patient, how to reminisce and more. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least six months of service with the program, with a minimum of two to four hours of companion time per month.
Anyone interested in this important way to reach out and help patients and families in our community should contact Henry Ford Macomb Hospitals Director of Volunteer Services Debi Schroeder at (586) 263-2361 or schroede@hfhs.org.
