Cancer Care

Established in 1996, the Henry Ford Macomb Cancer Care Center is a recognized leader in regional cancer care.

Our multidisciplinary team approach to patient care links all phases of treatment and support services. Physicians and staff from the Cancer Care Center, from other service areas of Henry Ford Macomb and from our many community partners comprise the team that coordinates clinical care with social and emotional support.

Cancer Care Services at Henry Ford Macomb

Dedicated Treatment Center

  • 11,000 square-foot cancer treatment center houses radiation oncology, medical oncology and a wide range of patient support services
  • Close-by parking and wheelchair availability

Comprehensive Diagnostic Services

  • State-of-the-art radiology services including PET/CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, special procedures, ultrasound, mammography, and stereotactic breast biopsy
  • State-of-the-art laboratory and pathology services including expert pathological determinations using cytogenetic, immunological, and radioimmunoassays

Expert Medical and Surgical Care

  • Dedicated, experienced medical oncologist and a full-time Oncology Nurse Practitioner on-site
  • Support for all community-based medical oncology physicians and their offices
  • Medical oncology clinic and chemotherapy treatment room on-site
  • Surgeons with expertise in cancer, particularly sentinel lymph node breast biopsy and prostate seed implants

Radiation Oncology Unit

  • Dedicated, experienced radiation oncologist located on-site
  • 3 oncology-certified registered nurses, four registered radiation therapists, one certified medical dosimetrist, one full-time physicist
  • 3-dimensional treatment planning system
  • 1 treatment simulator and 2 state-of-the-art linear accelerators for cancer treatment

Breast Care Program

  • a dedicated nurse specializing in breast cancer personally supports patients throughout the diagnostic process
  • information, education, counseling, support and assistance in treatment decision-making
  • all case management services personalized to the patient's needs

Clinical Nutrition

  • Dedicated oncology registered dietitian on-site
  • Personalized diet preparation and nutrition counseling
  • Management of treatment side-effects Oncology Counselor
  • Licensed psychologists and full-time, certified oncology social worker on-site
  • Individual, family and group counseling and support
  • Assists patients in accessing community agencies
